Procurement & Operations Assistant
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Procurement & Operations Assistant to support both brands in a unified role. Nest is a curated retail and sourcing showroom and Bowerbird is a full-service interior design studio - together forming an integrated design ecosystem housed in a beautifully renovated firehouse in Red Bank, NJ. This position sits at the intersection of design and retail, offering a dynamic, cross-functional experience for someone who thrives in a fast-paced creative environment.
The ideal candidate has strong time management skills, can successfully manage up, enjoys working with vendors, logistics, and clients, and is energized by the variety that comes with supporting two complementary businesses under one roof. A background in interior design is not required.
This is a part-time, in-office position with the potential to grow into a full-time role or evolve into other design- or retail-related responsibilities across either brand.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage procurement across Nest showroom inventory and Bowerbird/nest design projects including gathering quotes, placing orders, tracking shipments, and handling claims and returns.
Enter product details, pricing, and vendor information into design and inventory management software for both brands (Shopify and Studio Designer).
Unpack incoming product, inspect for damages, document and report any freight claims, break down and dispose of packaging, and tag and merchandise new arrivals on the showroom floor.
Coordinate installations and deliveries for both Bowerbird design clients and Nest retail customers.
Organize and maintain material samples, inventory, and supplies across the design studio and showroom.
Support Nest showroom operations, including customer inquiries, inventory updates, and day-to-day organization.
Collaborate with both the Bowerbird design team and the Nest retail team to streamline workflow and improve cross-brand efficiency
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities across two active brands.
Tech-savvy and comfortable learning new software (experience with design and retail management platforms is a plus).
Ability to take direction and work both independently and as part of a team.
Figure-it-out mindset — resourceful, proactive, and solutions-oriented.
Ability to perform physical tasks such as unpacking shipments, moving inventory, and assisting with deliveries.
Comfortable reviewing pricing and vendor statements, applying markups and discounts, and ensuring accurate charge reconciliation.
